Schedule and Content of the Training Course
Which are my Rights and Responsibilities
Day 1
- Familiarization. Explaining what the profession of the lawyer is.
- Introduction of the history of establishment of the law and the state.
Start with introduction of the placards with the picture of the primitive
man with a big instrument in his hand, the second placard shows a group of
men and women with a basket of fruits, which they have picked together and
the killed animal, which they have hunted. The third placard shows a primitive
man who has committed murder and is standing over his victim.
- Organize a conversation on the term "justice".
- Summarizing.
Day 2
- Give the text of the Constitution to the pupils, write the date of the
adoption of the Constitution on the blackboard, introduce the history of
the US Constitution, and show corresponding video film and placard.
- Discuss some articles of the Constitution, refer to the essential rights
and responsibilities, and find out the opinion of the group on why they are
provided in this act. Discuss article 1 of the Constitution.
- Ask the pupils to underline the articles, which they think should not be
included in the Constitution with the red color and the Articles, which they
think refer to the children with the blue color. Ask them to explain their
choice.
- Listen the national anthem of the Republic of Armenia; fasten the RA National
Emblem and the flag on the wall.
- Summarizing and introduction of the agenda for the next day.
Day 3
- Introduce the history of splitting of the Governance. Hand in the requirements
to the RA President, Delegates of the National Assembly and the Judges.
- Speak about the electoral order; explain the legal procedures.
- Ask to form a National Assembly, elect Chair and the Speaker of the National
Assembly, and organize discussion of the draft law.
- Introduce the agenda of the next day.
Day 4
- Speak about the marriage and the family. Ask the groups’ opinion
on the origin of this occurrence. Is it necessary for the public or not?
Which is their opinion on the ideal family. Do they accept polygamy or not?
- Show the picture of a girl and a boy and ask the group which was the age
requirement for the boys and the girls in different countries in different
times. Give the example of the drama “Romeo and Juliet”. Introduce
the age requirements provided by the law.
- Discuss the role of the church in the matters of marriage.
- Talk about the responsibilities of the married couple and the children.
Involve the group in the discussion; attend to the problem of property and
divorce.
- Hand out the booklets, suggest a problem and establish a prize for the
winner.
Day 5
- Write on the blackboard “Labor created the man”. Speak about
the work, its moral, psychological and life necessity.
- Find out the preferences of the group members and willingness to work.
- Discuss the issue of trafficking, hand out the booklets, and call the attention
of the group on the booklet, which introduces the ways to avoid trafficking.
- Ask the participants to introduce their handwork, composition etc., during
the next lesson.
Day 6
- Collect the introduced works and introduce the agenda.
- Hand out booklets on the Convention on Prevention of the Children’s
Rights; explain its goals and objectives, as well as why the children’s
rights are separated from the human rights in general. Who is the child in
our society; discussion of the age requirements with the group.
- Fundamental rights and responsibilities of the child.
- Introduce the RA Law on the Children’s Right, ask the group whether
they think that the children’s rights are protected in the Republic
of Armenia or not.
- Find out, which articles of the law are vital. Ask the group what rights
they would like to add.
- Ask the group which authors have attended to the problem of rights of the
child. Hand out the moot game “Gikor” to the group and organize
the discussion.
Day 7
- Introduce the agenda, handout the Decalogue.
- Read the Decalogue and ask the group who they think was the first criminal,
how the crime was originated, how it differs from other actions.
- Ask the group whether the criminal world attracts them and what is their
idea of the criminal world. Give an example from the film “The Godfather”.
- Explain the notion “crime”. Discuss the idea “Being strong
in soul and the right self-appraisal are the guarantee of dignified life
and to avoid joining the criminal group.”
- Explain the crux of the institute of voluntary renunciation. Discuss the
ways of voluntary renunciation.
Day 8
- Introduce the agenda.
- Ask the group what they appreciate in mankind. Which is the place of education
in their system of values? Is it easier for an educated person to live a
dignified life or not? Does being educated imply being moral? Discuss the
notions “education” and “experience”.
- Introduce the corresponding article of the Constitution. Discuss whether
the right for education is granted to the citizens only.
- Explain the group their principal rights and responsibilities in the sphere
of education.
Day 9
Summarizing and evaluation.
