
OFFICIAL RESULTS
The final oral round of the First Scientific Conference of the Law Students "The
Constitutional Reforms in the Republic of Armenia" took place in Tekeyan
center in Yerevan, on November 25, 2004. The Conference was organized by the
Armenian Young Lawyers Association (AYLA), the Law Students’ department
of AYLA and the Law Foundation of Armenia and with the support of the Armenian
representation of ABA/CEELI and “Bookinist” Publisher House. The
Conference aimed at raising the level of the knowledge of Law students in the
sphere of the constitutional right. The Conference provided an opportunity
to carry out a critical dialogue on the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia,
as well as on the drafts, which are currently discussed.
The Conference consisted of oral and written rounds. 22 students from the law
schools of Yerevan as well as from the regions had applied for participation
in the conference on October 22, 2004 in accordance with the approved schedule.
11 applicants introduced their reports in time. The authors of the best 5 reports
were authorized to take part in the final, oral round of the Conference.
A jury of well-known advocates, lawyers and judges was compiled to evaluate
the best oral and written reports.
Nora Karapetyan, a first year student of the law faculty magistracy of Yerevan
State University became the winner of the Scientific-Conference. She was the
winner of the written round as well. Ani Gharajyan, a third year student of
the law faculty of the French University of Armenia, won in the written round.
Khachik Harutyunyan, a fourth year student of the law faculty of Hrachya Acharyan
University won the special prize of the Conference.
The winners received valuable prizes as well. It is foreseen to publish a book
of the best theses of the Conference, which will then be distributed freely
among the young lawyers and advocates.
Daily newspapers “Azg” and “Aravot” as well as “Armenia”, “Armnews”, “Hay
TV” and “Etchmiadzin” TV Companies covered the work of the
Conference.
