Does the Point on Genocide Hinder?

On July 13 - 15, 2006 the Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs in cooperation with the Center for Organization of Youth Affairs organized the second Conference "Youth, Reality, Perspectives." The participants held discussions on the State Youth Report. Experts from European Council were present at the discussion as well. The Conference was aimed at raising the level of awareness of the youth concerning the developments in the youth sector; promote the involvement of youth in cooperation of the youth structures with the NGOs, state and international organizations and strengthen their ties; to raise the problems which face the youth and determine the ways to solve them. The authors of the Youth Reports had interviewed about 1050 young people all over the republic. The interviewed answered to 178 questions. Mr. Karen Zadoyan, AYLA President in his interview to “Aravot” Daily referred to the current low level of legal awareness of the youth. He also mentioned that the international experts had appreciated the National Report. The only objection here referred to the issue of the Genocide. The representatives of the European Council said that if the issue of the genocide was included in the questionnaire, then it should be mentioned in the document of the European Council, which says that Turkey is not responsible for the actions of the Osmanyan Turkey. “We want this to be only a historical fact,” Mr. Zadoyan said. Mr. Manvel Javadyan, Head of the Center for organization of Youth Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs, was involved in the analysis of the problems of the youth in the regions. According to his information the employment issue is the primary problem of the youth in the regional cities, this is followed by the accessibility of education. The main problem for the rural youth is organization of leisure activities.
