The First Annual Pension Conference, took place

On 16 December 2011, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in cooperation with “Pension System Awareness Center” Foundation (PSAC), and USAID/PALM program, organized the First Annual Pension Conference, which took place in “Tigran Mets Hall” of “Armenia Marriott” hotel. Mr. T. Sargsyan, RA Prime Minister, Mr. A. Grigoryan, RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, representatives from the state government bodies and departments, heads and representatives of trade banks, financial and other structures, Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia, a number of major associations, international and non-governmental organizations that deal with pension reforms attended the conference.
In result of pension reforms in the republic the Voluntary Accumulated Pension System has been operating in Armenia for nearly a year since 2011. As a result the Compulsory Accumulated Pension System shall operate in Armenia from 2014. As Mr. T. Sargsyan, RA Prime Minister, noted in his speech the three-stage pension system provides opportunity to more efficient management of the corruption risks, and promised that the state shall be guarantor of the citizens, for the mony they contribute for the pension and reminded that the compulsory pension system implies introduction of one unified social tax, which shall replace the currently existing 2 types of taxes: the income tax and the social payments.
The e-pension system was introduced at the conference as well. In particular, the Uniform Centralized Information Database of Pensioners, its functions, reduction of the existing corruption risks and the human factor when assigning, calculation and paying the pensions as well as other issues of this sphere. AYLA representatives, Miss Syuzanna Soghomonyan, Coordinator, Senior Lawyer of  “Development of AAC National Network” project implemented by the AYLA, and Miss Sona Harutyunyan, the Reforms Specialist of the project participated in the conference as well.
