The US Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia visited the Advocacy and Assistance Center of the AYLA Tavush Regional Branch

Ms Marie L. Yovanovitch, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Armenian Republic visited the Advocacy and Assistance Center of the AYLA Tavush Regional Branch on 21 August 2009. The Ambassador’s visit was aimed to get acquainted with the work and activities of the Center and the mechanisms of struggle against the corruption. Mr. Vahagn Tamrazyan, head of Tavush AAC greeted the Ambassador and noted that her visit will raise the role and importance of the center, as well as contribute to its more effective operation. Ms Laura Conaway, the US Vice Consul in Armenia, Ms Silva Yerznkyan, Economic Specialist of Political/Economic Section of the US Embassy in Yerevan, Mr. Francois Vezina, USAID MAAC Chief of Party and his assistant, and the AAC staff were present as well.
Mr. Tamrazyan showed the office to Ms Yovanovitch and introduced the staff of the center. Further he briefly introduced the attention of the Ambassador the work that the center had carried out during this period and answered her questions. During the one hour meeting the Ambassador also met and spoke with four beneficiaries of the center and learnt the questions of their concern. In the end Ms Yovanovitch said, “I know how difficult it is to work with different people of different characters, and I wish the center successful and efficient work in future.”

The Advocacy and Assistance Center of Tavush Marz operates in the framework of the AYLA project “Establishment and Operation of Advocacy and Assistance Center in Ijevan City of Tavush Marz” funded by the Mobilizing Action against Corruption (MAAC) Activity funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Casals & Associates, Inc. (C&A).
