Official Opening Ceremony of the Advocacy and Assistance Reception Center of City Ararat of Ararat Marz
On 12 June 2009, the official opening ceremony of Advocacy and Assistance Reception Center of Ararat City of Ararat Marz supported by the Mobilizing Action against Corruption (MAAC) Activity of USAID, which is implemented by the Armenian Young Lawyers Association, took place in Ararat. The Ararat city Mayor, the Head of Ararat Police, local and state government bodies, international and local organizations, NGOs, and the Mass Media took part in the opening ceremony. The ceremony commenced with a blessing by Ter Hovannes, and was followed by speeches from Francois Vezina, USAID MAAC Chief of Party, Carel Hofstra, Deputy Head of OSCE Office in Yerevan, Arsen Aresenyan, senior Prosecutor of Ararat Marz, and Karen Zadoyan, President of the Armenian Young Lawyers Association. In his closing speech Mr. Zadoyan noted the importance of establishing the AAC in Ararat Marz and said that the center will aim to promote legal awareness, decrease the risk of corruption, and will combat the evil looming beneath corrupt activity in Ararat Marz. Before inviting the guests to the Center’s opening reception, Mr. Zadoyan familiarized the guests with the activities of the Center and explained the role of the Center within the Ararat community.
