"The Role of Right Protective Organizations in the Protection of Human Rights"

The Human Rights Committee of the Armenian Young Lawyers Association (AYLA) in cooperation with the Law Foundation of Armenia organize a discussion on the Role of Right Protective Organizations in the Protection of Human Rights, which will be held at 11:00 a.m., on 16 July 2007in Yerevan Golden Tulip Hotel.
The discussion is aimed at raising the role of the right protective organizations; and to elaborate efficient mechanisms for their cooperation with the governmental bodies. It will provide opportunity to work out more effective suggestions for elaboration of new approaches referring to the protection of human rights in the Republic of Armenia and their introduction to the attention of the relevant interested structures.
Ms Arevik Petrosyan, head of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly of the RA; Mr. Arthur Sakunts, Head of Helsinki Citizens Association Vanadzor Office; and Mr. Harutyun Kharatyan, Chair of “Faith” Trade Union of ArmenTel CJS Company Employees will introduce reports at the discussion.
Representatives from the Armenian and international right protective NGOs, the National Assembly of the RA, the international and foreign organizations in Armenia, as well as from other interested entities are invited to the discussion.

The Armenian Young Lawyers Association Non-Governmental Organization (AYLA) was founded in 1995, have the main goal to join the efforts of the members and supporters of the organization as well as of the new generation of the lawyers to promote to the establishment of Armenia as a sovereign, democratic, legal and social state.
The organization has 7 regional offices in different provinces of Armenia. Through the network of its offices the organization provides free legal and advocacy services as well as catties out different projects and other events aimed at the protection of the human rights, raising the level of legal awareness among the population, and promotion of the new professional values of the young lawyers. The AYLA has a Law Students’ Division and five Professional Committees: History of Armenian Law; Civil Law; Criminal Law; International and Constitutional Law; and Human Rights.
The organization carries out different projects to meet the goals and objectives as provided in its Charter, which are aimed at development and dissemination of legal knowledge.
The Law Foundation of Armenia was founded in 2003, having the main goal to assist to the legal-judicial reforms in Armenia, to the development of the advocate’s institute, to the development and improvement of the advocates’ professional skills and to consolidate the role of the advocates. It also aims to promote the establishment of the law schools and the faculties of law of the institutes in the Republic of Armenia, as well as to better organization of the educational process in the law schools and in the law departments of other institutes.
