Internship Program for Armenian Lawyers and Law Students of Diaspora for 2006
Armenian Young Lawyers Association (AYLA) in cooperation with Birthright Armenia/Depi Hayk Foundation announces its Internship Program 2006 for Armenian Lawyers and Law Students of Diaspora in the following spheres:
1. Legal advise:
a) legal advise services to AYLA visitors and beneficiaries with the assistance and supervision of AYLA lawyers,
b) ensuring feedback with the visitors that have received legal advise services
c) carrying out other duties and activities as needed.
2. Participation in AYLA professional committees:
a) Civil Law
b) Constitutional and International Law
c) Human Rights
d) History of the Armenian Law
Internship in AYLA professional committees foresees study of corresponding field of law, participation in seminars as well as conducting the seminars, elaboration of proposals on corresponding training programs, carrying out other duties as assigned by the heads of the committees.
3. Translation of the materials for AYLA Website, booklets, information leaflets and other necessary documents in cooperation with AYLA translator/interpreter and the assistant to AYLA President.
4. Conduct short-term English language trainings for AYLA members in cooperation with the AYLA English language specialist.
5. Establish connections with international and foreign organizations for AYLA and AYLA divisions (AYLA Law Students’ Division and AYLA regional branches) in cooperation with the AYLA PR coordinator/Assistant to the President.
6. Carry out fundraising activities among international and foreign organization, Diaspora and individuals to involve funds for realization of AYLA activities. Prepare project proposals in cooperation with AYLA fundraiser.
7. Create the database of Armenian lawyers and law students of Diaspora in cooperation with the Assistant to AYLA President.
8. Create the database of Armenian legal organizations as well as the database of Armenian law students’ organizations of Diaspora in cooperation with the Assistant to AYLA President.
The applicant must meet the following criteria:
a) a minimum stay in Armenia of two months, working in AYLA for at least 30 hours a week
b) must be of Armenian heritage (at least one grandparent)
c) must be in the 20-32 age bracket
d) must be a lawyer or a student of a law school or the law department of another university (institute or college).
e) former citizens of Armenia are only eligible if they can prove, by official documentation, that they left Armenia before the age of 12 and meet the mentioned above requirements
f) have not previously been sponsored by Birthright Armenia.
